For inspiration, not medical advice
Run For Years offers general information to encourage regular movement. Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it does not replace advice from a doctor or other qualified health professional.
How to read the calculator
The figures come from a long-term population study (Moore et al., 2012, PLOS Medicine) that compared groups of adults by how active they were. They describe an association seen across large groups, not a personal prediction and not time you will gain. Values between the study's published group figures are our own estimates. Observational studies do not prove cause and effect, and your own health depends on many other factors.
Look after yourself
If you have a health condition, are pregnant, are returning after injury or illness, or are unsure whether a level of activity is right for you, talk to a doctor before increasing your activity. Stop and seek help if you feel pain, dizziness or chest discomfort while exercising.
